Our Front Line:

Michelle Pitt, Manager - NY East & West Central
Started: August 2003
Background: Degree in ornamental horticulture and landscape design, Certified Nurserymen, certificate in landscape design, studying to become certified as a master gardener. At 14 I started working in the greens dept of local golf course. Since then I have worked at Wayside Garden Center, Production at Grossman’s Country Nursery and Manager for 4 years, and The Home Depot garden dept.
Why ICS? I joined ICS because I love working in the plant and nursery industry and found this to be a new challenge. I also enjoy the flexibility, traveling from store to store and the freedom of the job.
Where do you want to be in 2-5 years? I hope to see ICS develop further as a company and for me to develop further with them. I would also like to build my own greenhouse and grow plants to sell for retail. In the next five years I would like to run and own my own small independent garden center. I hope to see the industry keep developing new and unusual product, and to keep the work going on developing more plant material that is less prone to insects and diseases.
