Our Front Line:

Kyle O’Hara, Manager - NY - West
Started: October 2003
Background: 15+ years Landscaping-design and installation, 10 years The Home Depot-8 ½ years Garden Dept. Manager. I learned to walk in a greenhouse. I’ve been in the nursery business since I was 10 years old.
Why ICS? ICS allowed me to have more of a family life. I also felt I had a better opportunity to make a difference, to do what I did in my store and spread it out to 12 stores.
What I like most about ICS: All of it. I love the challenge the most, working with the nursery stock. My goal is to make each of my stores look like an upscale, specialized nursery. I want every customer to walk in with jaws dropping in awe and come back every time for all of their gardening needs. Without a doubt-the people. This company has not lost its’ identity as fast as it’s growing. What each of us does makes a huge difference.
Where do you want to be in 2-5 years? I’d like to be a regional manager, also to have a greater part in working with the growers, locating new, better, or unique products for the stores. I like to contributing and encouraging the growth of all our people, developing each of them into specialists. I’d like to see us move into more regions beyond New England, NY, NJ such as more points west and southern Canada.

“I joined ICS because I love working in the plant and nursery industry and found this to be a new challenge. I also enjoy the flexibility, traveling from store to store and the freedom of the job.”
